The Magic Shoppe: New Figurines of Wondrous Power

Your footsteps echo across the cavernous hall. Valcav leads you to another pillar with a glass display dome. “…and here we have the pride and joy of my figurine collection.” He reaches into his pocket for a handkerchief to wipe a smudge on the glass. “These are from a very limited run. Only a handful of them were ever made.” He turns back to you with a wide grin spreading across his face. “I’ll be charging a premium price of course. Seeing as they still in mint condition.”

Topaz Scorpion

“Multiform figurines of wondrous power are quite extraordinary. In fact, Topaz scorpions take that idea a step further. Not only can you pick a form for your scorpion to take, but you can also customize the type poison it can use!”

Pathfinder:

Aura moderate conjuration and transmutation Price 8,000 gp; Slot none; CL 11th; Weight 1 lb;

DESCRIPTION

This tiny scorpion is carved from topaz with its claws held open and its tail in position, ready to sting.

BENEFITS

On command, a topaz scorpion can transform into either a greensting scorpion, or a giant scorpion. The form is chosen by the owner of the figurine when activated. A topaz scorpion can be activated twice per week with a total duration time of 12 hours. This duration need not be continuous, but it must be used in one-hour increments. Regardless of the form chosen, a topaz scorpion has the ability to substitute the poison it uses with its sting attack. While in statuette form, a vial of injury type poison can be placed in the scorpion’s claws. Activating the topaz scorpion consumes the vial and allows the scorpion to transmit the chosen poison with its first successful sting attack. After the poison is used the scorpion will default back to the type of poison indicated in its stat block. If a topaz scorpion is slain while in animal form any remaining uses of custom poison are lost as it reverts back to statuette form.

CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

Feats Craft Wondrous Item; Spells animate objects; Cost 4,000 gp,

This topaz statuette can take different forms depending on the command word used. One command worn transforms it into a scorpion while another transforms it into a giant scorpion. It can take either of these forms for up to 12 hours. Additionally, it is possible to adjust the type of poison damage the scorpion uses. While in statuette form you can place a vial of injury type poison in the scorpion’s open claws. Upon activation, the topaz scorpion will use the chosen poison for the first successful sting attack. Afterwards, it defaults back to the poison mentioned in its stat block. If the topaz scorpion is brought down to zero hit points with an unused dose of poison it is lost when it reverts back to statuette form. Once a topaz scorpion has been used, it can’t be used again until 5 days have passed.

Ruby Harpy

“The craftsmanship on these is exquisite. You can practically count the teeth in her manic grin. One thing to note is that despite this amazing attention to detail, they were not able to truly capture the full impact of a harpy’s song.”

Pathfinder:

Aura moderate conjuration and transmutation Price 12,000 gp; Slot none; CL 11th; Weight 1 lb;

DESCRIPTION

This polished statuette of a winged woman with talons for feet sparkles when exposed to light.

BENEFITS

On command, a ruby harpy can transform into a crystalline version of a harpy. It can be activated up to three times per week with a total duration of six hours. This duration need not be continuous, but it must be used in one-hour increments. The captivating song ability functions slightly differently than a normal harpy’s. The figurine’s owner and any allies chosen by them are immune to the captivating effect. If a victim of the captivating song is attacked by the ruby harpy, the owner of the figurine, or the owner’s allies they get to make another saving throw to break free of the effect. If a ruby harpy is slain while its captivating song is active the effect ends for all targets as it reverts to its statuette form.
